Hungarian Fantasy    Franz Liszt (1811-1886)

Mr. Jason Watkins was born in Newbury Park, California, eighteen years ago, and has lived in the same home with his parents and older brother, Jeremy. Jason attended elementary school, middle school, and high school in the same area and has experienced many exciting adventures during those years.  His interests include snowboarding, skateboarding, karate, wrestling, body boarding. But of all his interests his greatest passion has been that of music.

He has played piano since eighth grade and has developed a real love of classical music. He has been involved not only in developing himself as a pianist but he also sings in the Newbury Park High School Choir and began a Chamber Music Club on campus as well. He has studied with Glenda Buckley for most of his early training, and for the past 2.5 years had been a student of Edward Francis. He has played in numerous recitals, including: Gold Medal Honors Recitals at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, the Southern California Jr. Bach Festival, and “A Day of Piano Recitals” at California Lutheran University.

Jason enjoys many other artistic endeavors such as drawing and painting as well as movies and the theatre. He plans to attend college next year with an emphasis on music and the arts and hopes to spend some time in France this summer or during a semester of study abroad while in college.

Oboe Concerto (1999)    John Harbison (1938-)

Mr. Jeffrey Paul II is a May, 1999 graduate of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. His primary instrument is the oboe, but he also plays the piano, saxophone, and
composes. He has studied oboe with Richard Killmer, David Weiss, and Sal Spano. His piano studies were with Edward Francis.

He has performed and recorded with such groups as the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Heidelberg Schlossfestspiele Orkestra in Heidelberg, Germany, and has performed solo works with the New West Symphony and the Pepperdine University Orchestra.

Recently Jeff has kept himself busy by doing some studio work, taking a few auditions, and preparing for his big break as a movie star. He currently attends the University of Southern California, pursuing an MM in Oboe performance, while playing Principal Oboe in the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra.

When he isn’t scraping cane, he is probably playing at a night club with one of his bands: Dakah, a 50 member hip-hop orchestra, a groove and improvisation based group, Dispenza, and the funk band The Jimmy Spot.  Musical aspirations aside, Jeff's second home is behind the barbecue, where he enjoys a cool libation while tending to a tender slab of meat marinated in his own special sauce, singin' along with his favorite country western hits.

Just last year, Andrew took part in the Panel Auditions and was accepted to perform at the State Convention in San Francisco.

Apart from being a devoted pianist, Andrew is an honors student and an AP scholar. Because of this,  much of his time is spent studying in order to survive his classes. However, he still manages to be involved in extracurricular activities. As a Varsity runner on the Cross Country team in the fall and the Track and Field team in the spring, he spends many hours after school in training. In addition to sports and piano, he is also a very active Life Scout in Boy Scout Troop 775 and participates in as many of the troop's campouts and backpacking expeditions as possible.
